Greensboro Science Center: Aquarium, Museum, Zoo
Treat yourself to a hands-on museum, petting zoo and planetarium offering fun for the whole family. Roam through the Dinosaur Gallery, learn about gems and minerals, see the lemurs and enjoy touch labs. Visit snakes and amphibians in the Herpetarium, pet animals in the zoo's petting area, explore Kids Alley and interact with exciting traveling exhibits. The "thesaurus shoppe" is where you'll find unusual gifts and educational toys for imaginative minds.
Greensboro Children's Museum
A wonderland of exciting hand-on exhibits and interactive play stations that really launch kids' curiosities. The museum's learning stations are designed for children ages 1-10 and center around a realistic 'Our Town' theme.
North Carolina Zoological Park, Asheboro
Located 35 miles south of the O. Henry Hotel is the nation's largest and finest walk-through natural-habitat zoo features more than 1,100 animals and 60,000 plants in its African and North American sections. The Streamside exhibit recreates North Carolina's stream wildlife from the mountains through the Piedmont region and coastal plain.
Tannenbaum Historic Park
This 7.5 acre park was the 18th-century farmstead of Joseph Hoskins. Hoskins served the Guilford County community as a constable, tax collector and sheriff. During the Revolutionary War Battle of Guilford Courthouse, Hoskins' land served as a staging area for British troops under Cornwallis' command. The Colonial Heritage Center offers a variety of exhibits depicting life in colonial Guilford County. Located in Greensboro near the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.
The park offers two stocked fishing lakes, pedal boats, three playgrounds, picnic shelters, softball field and trails for jogging, hiking and bicycling.
Wet 'N Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park
The largest water park in the Carolinas and one of the top 12 in the United States offers more than 35 rides and attractions. The park provides incredible, exciting summer fun! Thunder Bay, one of only four tsunami (giant wave) pools in the country, makes massive, perfect waves. Enclosed slides, drop slides, tube rides and cable glides provide thrills for all ages and sizes. Two great children's areas and a drifting lazee river complete the fun for everyone.
